Children follow their own paths
A seamless educational path in the Aarau / Solothurn region
Because Montessori education is meant to be experienced, understood and shared, the Ballyhouse is also home to the Academy. Here, aspiring and experienced educators learn in a setting where Montessori is practised every day — working directly with specialists, Montessori materials and real-life classroom practice.
Our services

Montessori Nido — Care from three months
Nido — Italian for ‘nest’ — is the calmest space in our setting. It welcomes our youngest children from the age of three months, often long before they can sit or crawl independently. Building trust is our central focus — an essential foundation for healthy personal development.
What babies need is not structured learning in the conventional sense, but consistency: familiar caregivers, a steady daily rhythm and a safe, nurturing environment. With a calm yet stimulating atmosphere, patience and sensitivity, we support children as they take their first steps in the world — creating a space that invites them to reach, touch and observe without becoming overwhelmed.
We take time over the settling-in process, adapting it to each child rather than following a fixed timetable. Groups are small, with care provided in German and English by native-speaking educators. Parents receive regular, personal updates about their child’s development and daily experiences.
A calm, specially prepared environment designed for babies during their earliest months
Warm, attentive care from native German- and English-speaking educators
Small groups and a settling-in process tailored to each child
Toddler — the Toddler Community
As soon as children begin to walk confidently, everything changes. In the Toddler Community, two closely connected areas take centre stage: language and movement. Children name what they are doing as they do it — carrying, pouring, scooping, wiping and sorting. These everyday tasks are not simply activities, but meaningful work through which children practise their independence.
At this stage, the bilingual environment becomes a natural and effortless part of everyday life. As a childcare setting in Schönenwerd, in the Canton of Solothurn and close to Aarau, we offer families a place where young children can develop independence at their own pace — gently supported while remaining free to grow.

Children’s House — Montessori kindergarten
In the Children’s House, the Montessori approach takes its most familiar form. Children choose their own activities, work with concentration for extended periods and learn from one another within a mixed-age group. Language and mathematics materials, sensorial materials and practical life activities are freely accessible — children choose them when they are ready.
Importantly for families in the region, the mandatory kindergarten years are fully integrated into our programme. With lunch and after-school care included, your child can spend the entire day in familiar surroundings — with trusted educators and without having to move between locations. Everything takes place under one roof. In this way, we combine the requirements of the state school system with the freedom of Montessori education in the Canton of Solothurn and the Aarau region.
